Girl on Top of the World
im a girl on top of the world in my blue
satin dress
spinning around on my toes into an arabesque,
wind me up gently and well do each movement together.
if you dip me in gold then ill be your tomorrow forever.
im a bird in a beautiful cage, perched on a swing.
i could be happy all day just whistlin.
hang me up high from your beam and ill catch the sun,
but dare me and ill spread my wings and probably run.
cause the wind only takes you as far as youre willing to travel
and the higher the wall and the wire, the harder the climb.
so its got to be worth all its weight in the heart that you carry.
across the line
im a girl on top of the world, spinning my fate.
the candle, the wick and the fire and all they illuminate.
offer a sip of your wine and ill drink your soul,
but deny me a piece of your bread and ill swallow you whole.
but the wind only takes you as far as youre willing to travel
and the higher the wall and the wire, the harder the climb.
So its got to be worth all it's weight in the heart that you carry
across the line.
